Becoming a Gliding Animal

Becoming a gliding animal requires a feel for the wind, and a mental picture of what a flight though that wind would look like, from the very start. One way to begin is to fly a simple paper airplane using a large sheet of cardboard to create a rising wind. Known as Walkalong Gliding, this method of soaring a tiny glider shows the essential characteristics of wind which make for successful gliding. Lifting yourself into the air with as little weight gain as possible can be achieved by learning to fly a paraglider. Finding suitable wind to fly in now requires a keen sense of a flying site and weather conditions.
